Interesting d24 application
Here the d24 is mounted in a *vertical* position,
I wondered what that means for the future health of the engine... But reading the article explained a lot. http://forums.tdiclub.com/showthread.php?t=275787 http://forums.tdiclub.com/showpost.p...4&postcount=52 Nice story, good save. Last edited by RedArrow; 07-07-2020 at 11:59 PM. |

That's cool. These would be a good engine for use in a boat, quiet and smooth.

I agree. I think there are many boats served by the d24 engine especially in Europe.
This one also looks ready for some action. https://youtu.be/ikf7v94kmwk |

Volvo 240 Kombi HEARSE
It can be called a Volvo 240, a 240 wagon, a 245, a 265, whatever.
After cremation, this car can smoke you one more time! Looking at the fender signals, it may have been built for the Italian market originally. Any info on where this car turned up? Would be cool to add him to the Forum. https://bringatrailer.com/2017/07/26...vo-240-hearse/ |

Horrific Sonoma sado maso
The next "interesting" d24 application needs to be this one... What happened here?
What a mismatch! Extremely underpowered and not nice of an idea, at all. I am not the owner! Seller's Description "2002 GMC Sonoma 2wd extended cab short bed Diesel Swap videos of engine running we started to build it for a shop truck it is a 6 cylinder D24 Volvo diesel and 5 speed transmission this combination should get 30 mpg it is not finished we can do it but I haven’t had the time as I’m moving to a new house can be seen at ....... in Binghamton" https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...66896288394358 I rather keep these in where they belong. Yeah, I’m not sure the naturally aspirated D24 would be such a good idea, but then again those base model 2wd pickups don’t weigh much more than a 244 GL that came with that engine. Interestingly enough that is one swap I want to do... but I will use the forced induction model ‘D24T’ plus and IC 😀. S10’s, S15’s, Sonoma’s, Blazers, and Jimmy’s are my first love, the diesel Volvo came second. Why not join them together? 😍
The s10’s also used the T5 transmission for a long time, would be super easy to adapt it using the T5 mustang adapter.

Most certainly! I believe there are two different manufacturers that produce adapter plates to mount the Ford Mustang T5 to the Volvo M46/M47 bell housing. It doesn’t even have to be a mustang T5, just needs the correct input shaft length and the Ford bolt pattern (sometime in the early nineties all T5’s got that bolt pattern) I would have to verify but I believe my 93 S10 has the Ford bolt pattern, either way it would be easy to change the tail housing on a mustang T5 to the S10 tail housing so the shifter is in the correct position.
