Tool Rental Wish List
This thread is for asking for tools not currently listed in the rental list, or suggesting tools which should be added.
I'll start by suggesting a few: -valve adjustment tools -compression tester -injector pop tester

I would like to know if anyone has the rear camshaft sprocket counterhold tool and the crooked wrench needed to turn the bolt on same? Is there a tool that will work around needing these two special tools?
Thanks! |

I have a cam sprocket counterhold tool and the wrench too.
The wrench you may be able to get by without. The counterhold tool, you really need. Fortunately, that one is easy to find, because it is the only D24 tool that is also specified for use on the newer Volvo gas engines... so, as a result, Volvo dealers still use them all the time and therefore keep them around and handy, as opposed to the rest of the diesel tools, which most Volvo dealers probably haven't touched for 15 years now (assuming they still have them at all!). The counterhold tool, number 9995199, is something you should be able to buy fairly cheap (under $50) or borrow from any Volvo dealer or independent Volvo garage worth its salt. The wrench is nice to have and probably harder to find nowadays, but a cut-down 19mm socket on a breaker bar or a combination wrench with a piece of pipe slipped over it might do the job in its place. I do have a pop tester, compression tester, and valve adjustment tools plus a complete shim kit, to respond to Tyler's post about the tool wish list.

v8volvo: If you would be willing to post a rental fee/deposit in the other thread, I can add your tools to the rental list.

Whom are you looking to contact? Mike (Volvoist) let go of his diesel a while back and I don't think he has anything to loan anymore, but Tyler (casioqv) might still be a source, and a few others of us on here (including myself) have loaned tools in the past as well.
What are you working on and what specific tools are you looking for? Will also help to know where you are located. Might be best to start a new thread in the Diesel Discussion or new members introduction area describing some details about what you're doing and what you're in need of, and go from there. Welcome to the board! |

Thanks man! I got a bunch of parts that will add up to a d24. I'm trying to get it into my 240 and get it running. The crank timing gear was removed the cam gear I am not sure if clocked right. The injector pump gear an the rear cam gear might be wonky too. I want to have the cam gear locked before I install the timing belt. The crank lock would be nice too. I'm trying to get ahold of casioqv btw. I think he is on turbobricks also but the site is down now.
I really want to get this thing together and running soon. |

Read the timing procedure a couple times, the cam pulleys are taper fit, don't line up any particular way, and tighten last.
My tools are mostly not OEM, but I have what it takes to do everything right by Watsonville airport. |
