Default Alternator belt AND power steering bracket issues!

I bought two from my local Tasca store, for about $6 a piece. It arrived there by the next morning to be picked up by me.
I did install it the tricky way that forum member v8volvo explained here on the forum.
It does make sense and it did make a difference. It works totally fine ever since. I had no problems with it whatsoever.
It has to be quite tight and it sinks a little after installation, so keep an eye on it for some time.

Let me go find the belt I`m using. I will include a pict or a part #.

(idk why that belt looks worn/hairy in the pict but trust me it is brand new and Conti is good quality. It travels in the wagon`s dusty spare wheel)

It looks like it was sitting `too high` in the pulley, no worries, belt is about flush with edges of pulley. It`s exactly how it looked when installed many months ago, maybe over a year, I`m not sure.

Last pict also shows how misaligned the power steering belt can be, thanks to the stupid design of that `ps` bracket. What is PS for? All bushings are new there btw but still there is substantial force present... it pulls the reservoir towards the front of the car, making belt run at a little angle. Bracket absorbs too much stress at the lowest point where the bolt goes through. I guess this is typical. It is Much worse on the d24 nonturbos though, I think.

I just noticed it yesterday on my TD that that bolt was MISSING!!! It either got lost or never been there!!!! IDK>>>>but that is an important one so check it (everyone). Picture #5 is upside down!
I`m sorry for taking the thread off topic a bit. That`s how these cars operate.

Hey LOOKING AT PICTURE #5 I REALIZED A MISTAKE.

Alternator has a Gates belt on it.

I`m sorry, that previous pict shows my new Conti power steering belt. I got very confused....

I also had previously a post about the Gates belt that I`m currently using for the ALTERNATOR,
take a look.

Gates XL 7300... and... many other cross-referenced part numbers should work.
