Hmm.. How about a 4bd1t/t56 Volvo? I have seriously thought about it. Sure it would be a little nose heavy but having 280 hp/ 500+ ft lbs torque with nothing more then a better turbo and intercooler ( and the turn the screw mod on the pump...)

OM606 would be cool, 24valve inline. The cost of getting the pump to fuel more then 180hp is $$$ though, and the front sump oil pan. But at least there's an adapter to bolt it to a gm transmission.

But the easiest diesel option for a Volvo is the d24t, some head work, nice turbo, intercooler, pump adjustments and you have 220hp and a 5200rpm motor.
