Default Battery tray

Diesel battery tray for my 740 (`86,other years fit as well). (or, did they all use the same size tray??)
Mine rusted away too badly. Have PayPal. Zip 11219. Thx

OR share a link where I can order it. Preferrably plastic.

I recently tried ordering p/n 1334344 composite battery tray $59.72 from Tasca. They told me it would be available in 3-4 weeks and asked me what I wanted to do. I told them cancel the order, now they sent me confirmation my order has shipped! Tasca CS leaves a lot to be desired.

In the meantime I found that battery tray was used in these cars:

1993 Volvo 940 T 2.3L L4 - Gas
1993 Volvo 940 Base 2.3L L4 - Gas
1992 Volvo 940 GL 2.3L L4 - Gas
1992 Volvo 940 T 2.3L L4 - Gas
1991 Volvo 940 SE 2.3L L4 - Gas
1991 Volvo 940 GLE 2.3L L4 - Gas
1991 Volvo 940 T 2.3L L4 - Gas

So it shouldn't be too hard to find one at the JYs.

Default I`m sure you`ll return it.:)

Ouch, pricey, maan. I must look around at yards... I wasnt sure whether diesel bricks had their own tray or not.
I grabbed the 20V Makita to wire-wheel this thing, then dipped the leftovers in liquid rubber as a temporary solution.
Also, it doesn`t look better underneath the tray either. Lot of rust and holes. I`ll add a few pictures later. It looks mean.
Thank you.

Then, I was soo wrong when I thought our `large(r)` battery tray was specific to our diesel cars. I would never think they fitted the gassers with the `diesel-sized` battery tray. There goes another thing on my junkyard list...

Nah, you were right to begin with -- this has to be incorrect, every gasser 940 I've ever seen has the standard gasser size battery in it, in the regular installation, and besides the NA redblock cars have the battery and airbox positions swapped, with the air inlet on the driver's side, so there is no way.

Afraid if you seek out a JY car from this range you'll be disappointed to find it's just like the rest of the gassers, no XL diesel trays to be had there. Purchase from Tasca probably the best bet -- or ask one of our European members to root around in junkyards over there...

BTW, nice work on that one, looks like you made the best of what was there!

I do have an extra diesel tray out of a 7, but it is the early metal style, the 1986+ composite tray is a worthwhile upgrade. The one in your car was originally taken from the engine donor vehicle, which was fairly crusty and looks like it must have had an acid spill near there sometime, so that accounts for the holes in it... when I put that together it was the only available tray I had.

Oh, nice. 100% of my hopes were killed in an instant. :0) I`m getting used to it though. Common thing when you own a rare car such as a Diesel brick! ...
I have a funny lottery feeling: ``wow I had *all* numbers match, so I hit the lottery!!wooow``... But then: checked the wrong day at the drawing results. LOL.

Yes I figured. I dont remember my battery going crazy but that doesnt mean it didn`t. It`s ok... It won`t be easy to get one though. Well, despite of all that rust, the tray still has lots of beef left in it. The holes got `wider` (I had to use large washers) It lost its edges too (I cut them away) but it`s sturdy, not bent or totally crispy, so it still holds the battery strongly, it just looks very ugly compared to the rest of the car
Actually, unfortunately, a certain part of the body, right under battery tray also got bad... I see rust-holes there, soon some welding will be necessary/=a must/ there. ( only the small triangle/square area under the battery.

`NOTHING LASTS FOREVER`
Entire area got cleaned.I was preparing for some rustproofing&underbody treatment right there but seeing all that `rust damage` I put myself on hold for a while. Too many projects going on (and dont have much free-time)... plus the riding season is here too. My other `86 toy is hungry for action but I won`t let the brick stay like that! OUCH

Default 5yrs later...in 2020

Today I finally got some time to treat this area if only a little bit but at least something. I refreshed again the bad looking battery tray because I have had no luck finding a replacement!
I thoroughly wire brushed everything till bare metal with some surface rust left (necessary for chemical bonding) then I used a few layers of Locktite rust converter from a spray can then Rustoleum oil paint enamel primer 2x then I`ll add 2 coats of royal red Rustoleum oil paint using a brush, all of this as another temporary fix until it gets properly fixed by cutting out and welding in new metal. I`m still a lucky guy bc this is prob the only area with rust. Cheers!

Default The temporary forever fix lol

This might be able to hold for a year or two. I need to seal off the wheel well section.

I wish I knew how to weld
