You have a problem on your engine.
more important than the oil consomption.

Head gaskets do not blow like that on a d24 ,tic or not.

was the head controlled ?

are the rings in the specs ?
maybe you broke one that was tired by the coolant that went in the cylinder.
water is not very good for a big compression diesel.

i suggest you a compression check.

it can explain a lot to you.

The po of the car did a getto headgasket job, and it failed when I bought it. I just installed a victor rinez headgasket and it failed only lasted 3 years. I put a stock Volvo headgasket this recent head job.

I will do a compression check today.

Did you use a MLS or a Fiber gasket? MLS is the way to go. I suspect something is wrong with your cylinder head. I had a problem with a head on a rebuilt D24 engine I rebuilt recently. Installed another rebuilt head, and the oil burning went away. Was using roughly a quart per 125-150 miles before fixing it.

500 wtf ?

that's high !
but good.

i would say a bit high according to what the book say.

I f your head vave been flatened/surfaced yet it maybe explain that.

fiber gaskets need re torquing. after warm up.

You did the test with oil or dry ?

500psi is normal IMO, I did dry and hot, I did the retorque, I already have 2,500 miles on the head. I do about 400+ miles on one quart of oil. Its not bad but very annoying, and the oil isn't cheap either.

Here is a picture of my oil return line, I think this the problem to the whole thing. I'm using a d24 oil pan on the D24T block, but How the motor sits at a 10 degrees and I'm thinking the oil is backing up through the turbo. Its such a low spot on the pan verse the drivers side sit much higher. I have only done this swap twice, my car and my friends 240 wagon. He is using the same set-up that I'm doing but his drain is in a higher location on the pan.

I'm going to try to relocate the drain with out taking out the whole motor. I might have to cause I don't want metal shavings in the pan.

Nice fittings and weld job there! I would agree, seems logical that that position for oil return might be susceptible to backups and stoppages, especially while cornering.
