HP or LP turbo ???
Hi folks, reading thru various posts I see references to high pressure and low pressure turbo's, would this apply to a '95 LT6 TDic engine and if so, how would I tell if its a high or low pressure unit,,, and is there any difference between them from a performance viewpoint? (I'm refering to factory spec units, not aftermarket units) thanks, Aidan.

Aidan,
you are getting things confused a little with single and compound setups. Hp and lp turbos are refering to a compound turbo setup, where one turbo is the higher pressure turbo, and another turbo, the low pressure feeds into that. With just one turbo, the hp and lp terms don't really apply, since you have only one feeding the engine at whatever boost you have set. I suppose that makes it the high pressure turbo, but the term doesn't really get used when talking about just one. Jason

Thanks Jason, yes, I am new to diesel's, and even newer to turbo's so plenty of room for confusion, thanks for straightening that out.
