Lowering Diesels
Has anyone lowered their rigs? If so, what kit did you use? I'm not sure you can get away with using gas springs with the heavier front end. Coilover are out of the question, just looking for a lowering spring.

I haven't used lowering springs on a 740 turbodiesel yet but I have used IPD lowering springs on 240 diesels, they will sit around 1/2"-3/4" lower on the front then the 240 turbo gas intercooled cars. It's definitely an improvement over stock "mushy" springs.

Just installed ipd springs, even with the extra weight of the motor there is a little extra gap in the front. I may cut a quarter coil to even it out. Also put in bilstein touring dampers all around, feels very responsive and controlled, I can actually feel the road now! There were some new-ish bargain monroes in the back and mismatched, worn out boges in front. I bought new strut mounts and bearings, but they ended up being good enough to reuse. My ipd bars should arrive just in time for carlisle, looking forward to the drive down

Depending on what you bought, the originals (if they are indeed Volvo original) may be of much higher quality anyway. Seems that most new strut mount/bearing currently marketed are short-lived junk.

I bought lemforders. The originals were volvo. The bearings felt okay, if I had new in my hand I would have put them in. The lemforder mounts came with a metal sleeved bearing which looked nice, but I didn't want to return them with parts missing. The SKF bearings in my mounts were plastic.
