Default 240 Diesel Oil Gauge and Tachometer

I want to put an OEM small tach and small oil gauge in my '84 240 D6.

Are these different from the respective gas gauges?
What parts do I need to install?
Tips on how to install?

The tach is different, but google search will find some VW people at least who have converted them.

Oil...Pressure or temp? The Gauge will work, or if you look at old Audis in the junkyard a lot of them have similar style VDO gauges and senders that fit.

Default diesel, oil gauge, oil, volvo, oil pressure

Will this oil pressure gauge work?

Also, is this the right oil temp gauge? Too pricey or about average?

You don't need a diesel specific oil pressure gauge, you can get one from a 81-85 turbo gas 240 as they all came stock with one, and the sender has two terminals one for the gauge and one for the idiot light.

You can also get a VDO gauge.

The oil temp gauges are a little harder to source, I think that one on eBay is just bit over priced though.

Will the sender in the first ebay link (Oil Pressure) work on the D24 block, or is that just for the red block/gas models?

Yes that sender will work, but you will also need to get a tee fitting if you want to run the dummy light also.

Doing an oil change in a couple of weeks, so I am finally getting around to installing an oil pressure sender.

I have a 5 bar OEM gauge.

Will this sender work or do I need to buy an adapter? It's 10x1m threads: (http://www.ebay.com/itm/One-VW-Audi-...5d286b&vxp=mtr

Yep, that one will work. It has the terminal for the idiot light and a terminal for the oil pressure. Thats the sender I use.

So I just did my oil change, but I couldn't find where to connect the oil gauge sender.

Anyone know where it goes?

Oil pressure presumably, not temp? If pressure, then as long as your sender has the same thread as the existing oil pressure switch, it will screw in in place of the switch, low down on the driver's side of the block near the motor mount.

Visible on the engine pictured in the website banner above, diagonally between the motor mount bracket and the tstat housing.
