Default 82' D24 Sender Unit

Hey, I want to drop and clean all the gunk out of my gas tank but I can't seem to pull the return line off of the sender. When I push back the rubber hose it reveals another sort of nylon hose underneath. Someone suggested pouring boiling water onto it or maybe even cutting it and replacing it. I've looked on YouTube it seems like the gasoline tanks have hoses that just slip right off. Anyone got advice on what I should do, figured I'd ask so I don't damage anything for no reason.

Preserving the shrink fit would prevent air from being sucked in since this line is under vacuum, unlike the gasoline versions under low pressure from the in tank fuel pump. Disconnecting the entire fuel line from underneath the vehicle to allow sufficient slack to drop the fuel tank with the unit still in the tank is a possibility. Then the sending unit could be removed from the fuel tank and set aside, after cleaning the fuel tank do it all in reverse of removal.

I was able to follow the return line down under the car and unscrew a simple fitting and got the whole tank removed. What's the best way of cleaning out the tank?
