Default broken camshaft

today removed the rocker cover on my D24 doner car i new the camshaft was broken well not been this far into one of these engines
the 2nd shaft clamp from the front ws broken too ,
i cut the injection pump belt in two and removed the belt guard this allowed me to lift the camshaft free from the engine , on inspection so far i see only 1 of the tappets is damaged i lifted some out and looked ok but 1 had bits inside the tappet so its broken
does this mean this engine is terminal dead.

Means at least one of the valves collided with its piston with enough force to damage the tappet, break the camshaft, and at least one camshaft journal cap (clamp as you call).

Terminally dead? Depends on your skills, tools, desire, energy, and finances. Further in you may find bent valves, damaged pistons, bent rods, etc.
