Like cut out and dropped a cyl or the whole engine? One cylinder could be a injector problem, possibly a piece of crap in the tip. Whole engine? Look at the injection pump shut down plunger/switch assembly. Could be a loose connection at the terminal, break in the wire or problem at the ignition switch.

Seemed like a couple cylinders but definately not the whole engine. Has not done it since.

Either injector problem or air in the injection system, in the pump, whatever. Air in the pump getting into the head would cause it to drop a cylinder or two, if the air was pushed down the line instead of fuel.

Could be a bad connection at the shutdown solenoid or in that circuit. Hard to find a cause while it's running! Hook up a (small) light to the shutdown solenoid and put the light where you can see it while driving. See if it flickers next time the engine cuts out unexpectedly.

Agree with the above... a little air in it, or faulty supply of +12v to pump solenoid. Check the tightness of the female spade connector at the pump. 240 ignition switches are notorious for going bad too... good idea about mounting a test light somewhere where you can see it.
