Default Crack in head, strange wear on pistons, oil in coolant system, junk motor?

Took apart a motor I picked up a few weeks ago, the PO said oil was in the cooling system. Upon taking things apart, oil was the only thing in the cooling system.

Removed water pump and thick black oil just poured out!

I suspect a blown head gasket since I was able to turn the motor over by hand very easily.

If you look at the piston, there is some strange wear on it in the 12 to 3 o'clock position, there is a ridge as if the piston material was being displaced.

For the head, see the picture of the crack, a few other cracks just like this one. I also have a small crack between the valves on each cylinder (is that normal?)

Should I this be loaded into my truck and hauled off for scrap or can it be saved?

That looks like a real bad overheat, and an HG is probably least of its problems.
valve-valve cracks are normal if a nickel won't fit edgewise.
Measure your piston stickup, and keep the tallest rods. some valves and precups might be good, but as non-turbo one and the cam...some have a tiny bit more lift.
Valve shims, you want a collection, as well as accessory brackets.

They say NA head , block, and ring metallurgy wasn't as good, wonder why?

I'm gonna guess the pump is good on this one.
What's the warp down the head? I think .006" is max, .004 crosswise.
