Question Dimensions of the D24

Hi,
I am going to buy a D24 engine from a Volvo 240.
Any idea about the Dimensions (Lengh/Width/Heigh)?
I want to transport it in the trunk of my 745, but have no idea if it fits properly (standing position would be excellent, or slightly slanted) and I don't want to borrow a trailer.
I am to lazy to take a measuring tape and check mine out and make myself dirty

The only thing I know it has a dry weight of 182kg, what is totally uncritical.

Best regs,
Bernd

I don't know the dimensions off hand but I do know they will fit in the back of a 740 wagon standing upright. The difficult part though is getting it in there with an engine hoist since the hoist will want to hit the top of the hatch opening. I had to use a piece of pipe as a crossbar and very short sections of chain to lift the engine, rather than one longer piece of chain, as that added too much height.

Or if you're buying it from a place that can load it in with a forklift, you will have no problems, just have to work carefully pulling it back out.

Yesterday the D24 has been delivered by the seller on the trailer (With a 245 B230F ) and unloaded at my stepfathers' garage.

Tomorrow I will try to load it with my stepfather and stepbrother in the trunk, I have no worries, put some old planks on the roof and push it in
Then I will bring it to my workshop

Will report, soon.

Regards,
Bernd

Last Saturday I moved the engine to my workshop, approx. 100 mi with highway, country roads, city, without incidents.
We pushed the engine with three guys in the baggage on planks. Was pretty heavy, but ok and it worked
Straped it, otherwise it was moving & wiggling.
At the workshop I had only my brother the crane could not be used due to the tailgate. But I had a motorcycle lifter, so I put a pallet on it, liftet it and we pulled it out with ropes fixed at the bottom of the engine (alternator holders and the hole of the starter) and pulled it on the pallet.
It was easier than we expected

BTW: the heigh of the engine is approx. 70 cm, so it hat enough space to the rooftop

Best regs,
Bernd

Biggest thing I had in mine was a full size refrigerator, good work.

What kind of radio antenna do you have there?

It's the european standard (I think you're asking because in the US you have different ones?). Must be Volvo 9447930.
Or do you have usually the automatic moving antennas (witch stops working properly after a bunch of years )

Best regards,
Bernd
