Heater hose connection at the thermostat housing
While I'm waiting for parts and tools to repair my head, I'm changing all the coolant hoses to the silicone rubber type - heat and oil resistant and last pretty much forever. I'm looking at the heater hose connection at the thermostat housing with an eye to changing the fitting to use a 5/8" hose. I wonder if it's threaded into the block, brazed, or what?
Anybody know? Thanks, Chuck Yarter |

From having my engine apart and very clean, it looked to me that the metal pipe fittings are pressed in, and probably sealed with some type of epoxy or sealant. I didn't see any evidence of left overs from being brazed in. 99% sure its not threaded, the pipe is too thin wall unless the threads were rolled, but I doubt that. The tube looks totally smooth.
