Well I will be either driving around through Tacoma or I will take the ferry to Edmonds. We can meet in Edmonds or Everett?

Meeting in Edmonds sounds good to me, if we can figure out a good place to do it. Maybe a park by the water? Or near ferry dock? I don't know that area well.

If we want to start further south, in Seattle, I can think of a few good places that would work, Golden Gardens or Carkeek Park, or many other options. However, if Edmonds is more convenient, I'm sure we can figure out something there easily enough.

I'll be driving my '86 744, and maybe will get a friend to bring another from my "fleet".

George

I will be coming from the Federal way area. George do you want to meet in Seattle so we can cruise to Edmonds together? We could meet at the same Starbucks we met at when I bought the turbo manifold from you.

We can meet up at the port of Edmonds or at Ivars off of Edmonds way/ hwy 104 for lunch if we meet around lunch time.
What time are we thinking of meeting up?

Ivar's in Edmonds/Mukilteo sounds like a great idea. How about we meet there at 12:00 noon on Saturday -- that way we can gather up and have some food, then still have enough time to cruise around a little bit before the show.

Chad, that Starbucks is a ways south of where I would be starting from. Since we are heading northwards anyway, maybe you and I could meet up somewhere a little further north in Seattle and drive up to Edmonds together? Say maybe in Ballard or Fremont at around 11:30 -- that way we could go straight up Hwy 99 from there.

Still need to figure out a route from there to Monroe. Most direct is Hwy 522 which is a nice road, but if we can find a good loop that adds a few more scenic miles that might be a nice option too.

Alright, I will meet you guys at Ivars off of 104 around noon. We then can discuss the route over some good fish-n-chips.

Is just us three driving are diesel bricks?

I checked with forum member ngoma, who is also local, if he wanted to come up but he couldn't get free. Dan was interested in coming but his 244 has a blown head and can't climb hills, so I don't know if it would be able to make the trip from Seattle. It's waiting for a D24T swap that hasn't happened yet... I might see if he wants to drive a second one of my three 700's -- bring the number up to four cars at least. I know of a couple other diesel drivers in the Seattle area but they are unfortunately not the car show type...

There are quite a few diesel brick drivers in Oregon that I hoped would see this thread, but those guys (Slobodan, 77volvo245, a couple others) seem like they haven't been around here as much lately. Maybe I'll give one of them a call in case they want to come up.

Sounds like the family and I are going to make a day of it and spend some time up north. I will meet you guys at the Ivars around noon. We will probably eat at the new Dicks Burgers in Edmonds since we love there food. Dicks is only 2 miles away from Ivars so I am not to far from you. See ya around noon.

It was a good time yesterday, even though the group was small. Hopefully the other two of you got some pictures -- I didn't take any.

At least our three cars represented a nice selection of US Volvo Diesel versions: we had two sedans and one wagon, two turbodiesels and one NA, two manuals and one automatic, two 200 series and one 700. I think we pretty much covered it all.

We did get some interested looks and comments, and we definitely had something there that nobody else did! There was one other Volvo in the show, a 242GT, and one other VW diesel (an old Golf) -- but no other Volvos with VW diesels under the hood.

We have the Swedish meet at XXX in Issaquah coming up in February -- maybe we will try to get a bigger group together then. I'm not driving behind Chad's car next time, though...
