Glad to be here
Hello All
I have been reading this forum for about two years, since the purchase of a VW LT of 1989. ...I love driving it.I recently got a 1987 Volvo Diesel There is a lot of the usual rust to deal with still, and a complete rip out and refit needed, but it is still used as a camper, though very basic. The joys of maintenance so far have been limited to the brakes, clutch and gearshift, the engine only needing a little water, and an oil change. I have all the bits to do the belts and filters, just not the time yet. Glad to see you're all still here |

Welcome! Sorry we didn't respond to your post sooner. Guess everyone must have been busy with the holidays. We are all still here, although the people and cars alike are probably not benefiting from the passage of time. Getting a good discussion going on the forum is still a good thing though, and happens often enough even if not as often as 10 years ago.
Sounds like a good pair of vehicles and yes, if you are used to working on this engine in an LT van, you will find the Volvo very familiar, main difference being the Volvo should have easier access for service. As for the belt service, sounds like you know that is a critical thing to not delay if you don't know when it was done last, and proper process and equipment are essential to success. But if you approach it with the intent of doing it right and have the needed info and tools, you will find it to be satisfying work and not complex. How did your LT make it in to the country? Pictures of it and the Volvo?
