1991 940 d24t m46 clutch
Hey guys,
Sorry if this has already been asked somewhere but unfortunately I couldnt find anywhere this on my own. So basically I am driving a 1991 940 d24t volvo with m46 gearbox (4 gears + OD) and lately I have noticed that its been slipping on 5th and 4th gear when close to 3k RPMs and hitting boost (I have screwed in fuel pump and also played around with wastegate I believe) Just wanted to ask if all the clutch for m46 are the same would it be 240, 740 or 940 series? For example the SACHS clutch kit 271266. Would it work on my 940? Or should I go with SACHS 271265 instead? Regards, Ghorio |

Here in the US we are not very familiar with your year/model, but judging from the photos I found for the clutch kits you listed, the 271265 looks more correct than the 271266
because the fingers should not stick up as much as shown in the photo for 271266. Also, the general shape of the 271265 pressure plate looks more familiar. Guessing that the 271266 is for a flat flywheel, instead of the dog dish flywheel that is on my 1985 D24T/M46. Unless it changed for your newer 940? Of course, there are other important specs, such as clutch diameter/thickness, number of splines, etc. Sorry to be so vague; hopefully someone who recently did a clutch for a model close to yours can report. Part of the problem is because for older "rare" cars, the parts suppliers are constantly consolidating their variety, trying to make less parts cover more applications. Sometimes it works, other times they don't fit. I'm going through that currently with replacement clutch cable.
