I swap the d24t to my 245 and i have 2 questions
Can someone tell me why i must change oil pan in d24t on that from d24 ? Second: how to insert the engine so as not to cut stringer to make room for turbo ?

You will need to use the d24 pan and put a turbo return line on it. The d24t pan had a different sump that will interfere with the crossmember on the 240, also the d24t sits more vertical in the 7xx and 9xx body's.
Avoid notching the frame rail, I have noticed you can add a turbo on a factory slant with fresh mounts, or add a shim on the turbo side engine mount.

I dropped my D24T into my 245 WITHOUT changing the oil pan.
I just cut away the interfering part of the crossmember, then welded in some thick angle iron to box it back up and strengthen it. And I also use the bigger D24T right engine mount and this caused the engine to sit higher up on the passenger side making plenty of room for Turbo.

Hi,
I have 1988 245 with D24 and I would like to add Turbo. Maybe someone would describe which parts I need from the 700 / 900series D24T / D24Tic? Because if I just take the Intake and Exhaust manifold, Turbo, Exhaust pipe (only the first section or all?), Oil filter fitting from the 700 series (D24T), would it be enough? Or I also need a fuel pump and injectors from D24T? And what about an alternator, because I see that the 700series older D24T has it in the lower mount, but the newer ones are upper mount - 80A instead of 55A at older ones, so theoretically if I have a 55A alternator, should a turbo fit? Or I need to change position? And about oil return line, is there any pressure after Turbo? Because instead of welding, I could just drill a hole and make a thread? |

injection pump for turbo have one more component that ad more fueling when turbo is on boost, so I think you need this pumps. Injectors can be mashed to turbo without big work. First section exhaust is Ok, you've to weld it on your existing exhaust. For me 700 900 alternator is a plus. I think also about driving the pan ;-) no pression at all
