D24 Block Green Paint Available?
Hey, I'm just about ready to rebuild my D24 (once a few more parts arrive) and I was wondering if anything similar to the original green block color is available? I know there is the darker green used on later Volvo trucks but if anyone knows where I could get something similar to the original please let me know!

I used John Deere green on one once. It looked nice the way it came out, but I think it is a lighter/brighter shade than the original factory. It was the closest I was able to find though.
The Volvo truck/marine green is definitely different than the VW diesel green on the D24.... more of a blue-green. Of course almost any color is gonna look good on a fresh engine!

I have some pictures of how that engine looked with the Deere green saved somewhere but am not finding them so far. Here is a video of it running that is pretty poor quality but at least gives you some views of it in case this helps you decide if this color looks good to you.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDM6eEdfBv0 I have to say that in more recent years I have come to believe that low gloss black is the best choice for the block on a diesel. That is how VW does the newer TDIs as well. Brighter colors look great when they are first in the car or if you wash them often, but black does a better job hiding the inevitable grime from use and minor oil seepage. Easier to keep it looking decent if you are lazy about cosmetics like I tend to be. But it's a matter of preference.

Nice! Yes the Deere Green is a great looking color, seems like a handful of us on here have been happy with it. Pretty easy to find too, from any agricultural shop. As I remember it's a good quality paint that holds up well.
If you want to see something a little more out there you can also probably find the pictures of the engine Jason Douglas (member Jason, original founder of this forum) put together ..... painted CAT yellow. It looked fantastic but might be a little too intense for most of us.

I was considering matching the block to the blue metallic color of the car but I think I'm gonna have to stay true to the green block and do John Deere green. That D24T looks incredibly clean in that video and that's awesome that you still have a video of it from so long ago.
