cool idea. After i realized that the body on my 1985 was garbage, i looked around for a Range Rover Classic. Realizing i could swap bellhousings on the tranny and drop the engine in. unfortunately/fortunately, i found a cherry 89 760 turbo with a blown engine before I found a non-rusted out RRC for less than $5K. Would love to see some photos of how the engine fits into the bay, and a video if you get a chance.
