If it's similar to the aftermarket kit my brother had on his 740 there was a relay behind the glove box somewhere maybe mounted to the blower housing or the ducting. Let us know what you find. Sorry...

I agree that should in theory just disengage the compressor... it was only a thought. Do you think a wiring diagram would help? I can try and get one if you don't have one for that car.
