PS - how to loop the lines ?
 

Hello everyone,

I would like to know what is the correct method to loop the lines? I changed the entire rack lately, My PS leaks a lot (from the 2 banjo joints on the . I guess I tightened it up too hard and the 2 crushed seals are dead now...?

Anyway, I cant find the parts for the moment. I heard of this method - looping the line- but I dont now how to tackle this. Any suggestion?

The banjo washers, if they are copper, can become what we call "work hardened" and difficult to create a good seal. If they are copper and you cannot find replacements (generally they are widely available), you can anneal them to regain their elasticity by heating them to cherry red with a torch.

If they are aluminum, they may have gotten deformed beyond reuse and better to replace them with new, no way to anneal them.

Loop the lines? Sorry, didn't understand.

Mine are copper-made. But I really . I was thinking the 4 copper gasket were too much crushed..? I will try to anneal them.

"Looping the line" is the technique I heard of that consist in removing the belt and letting the liquid flow in the rack

But..I dont know how to do it, because the holes on our 240 racks are drilled, on an even surface, so how could I put a hose...?

Looping the lines was a suggestion given to the OP who was trying to convert his power steering to manual. Is that what you want to do?

Annealing the copper washers is worth a try if they are not deformed too much.

No, of course I just wanted to make my volvo less dirty and more maneuvrable!

Porblem solved, I got new banjos with new copper gaskets!
