Default Supercharger drive setup

Has anyone ever done this?? I'm looking into it how strong is the front crank snout would the single drive key in the crank sprocket be strong enough? There is plenty of room once the power steering pump is removed. Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated thanks.

If the key is what is holding your crank snout together, the engine is about to grenade anyway.
the rubber on a 30 year old balancer might not be up to the job though.

The keyway does not hold the crank snout together on the d24. I'm going to make a pulley that drives off the center crank timing sprocket bolts.

The keyway is more of an alignment tool then anything else, engine is kept in time from friction placed between the cog sprocket and crank snout via the balancer and crank bolt. The four Allen head bolts only bolt the balancer and cog sprocket together.
That keyway alone won't keep the engine in time as a member here has found that out the hard way.
You will need to find another method of transferring the power from the crank snout to the four bolts on the balancer.
Adding a larger keyway maybe?
The dirty route of cold welding the cog sprocket on?

All that being said, I would love to see it done. I have often thought about it myself. Eaton m62 blower with hx35?? Sounds like a sweet combo to me!

I love the Lt balancer idea I will have to cut a keyway and broach the sprocket. Thank you for the photos if any one has an Lt balancer let me know I'll buy it. Thanks!

What would be the advantage to the LT balancer?

Looks like I can drive the supercharger instead of the cooling fan run the fan in the stock location on the car.

Its real hard to get a picture in its native environment inside the fan shroud.
I have a video, but the engine is running, so tough to see anything.

there are IIRC 4 bolts inside the bonded rubber ring for the unclutched fan,and 4 machined nubs inboard of them provide accurate centering.
It is a pretty long lever, so side loading might be an issue.
Generator/marine engines probably use the same part.
