Default FS: 1984 Volvo 245 Diesel 4-spd Manual w/spares

CAR IS SOLD

My diesel wagon project never really got off the ground, so it's time to throw in the towel. The idea was to swap the D24T engine I bought into the car, but I have neither the time nor know-how to do so. Thus, I've decided to sell my non-running 1984 Volvo 245 wagon, located in Los Angeles, CA. It has an M46 manual transmission with working (last time it ran) overdrive, beige leather interior, and R134A AC conversion. The car itself has 303,XXX miles showing on the clock, but the previous owner said the engine had been rebuilt less than 100K miles ago. It currently will not start, but will turn over pretty easily. The car has been sitting for two years now. The engine also has a block heater installed, and the oil filter has been relocated to behind the front spoiler. I'm also throwing in all of my D24-related parts with the sale, which include a D24T engine and many spares.

Here are some things you should know:

The Bad
-Does not start (could be an easy fix, could be more serious)
-Peeling paint and surface rust spots in some areas
-Blower motor does not turn on
-Rear hatch struts are bad

The Good
-Body is mostly straight (one dent in driver's side fender)
-California car means no really bad rust
-Includes D24T rebuildable core
-Includes many other parts

Here are the parts included:
-D24T out of an '82 760 (unknown condition)
-set of 4 MSW 15x7 mesh alloy wheels
-set of 4 Dunlop Direzza DZ101 UHP tires, size 205/50/R15 (more than 70% tread left)
-ebay same-side inlet/outlet intercooler
-Mercedes T3 turbo (.48 A/R hot side) from 300D
-RX-7 T3 turbo compressor (.60 A/R cold side)
-3 starters (2 known to work)
-2 D24 metal radiators (unknown condition)
-2 water pumps (unknown condition)
-D24 injection pump (unknown condition)
-New D24 glow plug relay
-Set of new Total Seal gapless piston rings
-New fuel pipe (PN: 1257150)
-Seal ring (PN: 1257809-2)
-Rubber seal (PN: 1246522)
-New Bosch fuel filter
-4 New Fram air filters for D24
-3 timing belts, one in box
-injection pump belt
-original head unit
-D24 wiring harness
-newish-looking upper water inlet
-various hoses (like-new condition)
-new ISSPRO water temp gauge
-spare bulbs
-spare Sylvania headlamp
-1.5 quarts Optilube ULSD fuel treatment

I'm asking $1200 obo for everything. I'd like to keep it all together for now, but will consider splitting up parts if no one wants the whole thing. Thanks for reading. See pictures below.

Clean looking wagon. A bargain with all those parts thrown in!

Hope it goes to someone who will get it back on the road, or better put it together with the D24T. That car and those parts make someone a sweet 245 TD without too much trouble.

Sold the car itself, but I still have many parts left over. Will make a more detailed thread soon.

Who bought? Don't forget to pass along the info for this forum, so the new owner can find the resources and info they may need to get it running!

Glad to hear you were able to find a buyer. Sorry to see you leaving the D24T community, but hopeful that the car will get back on the road and live a long continuing life with its next owner.

Good luck with whatever comes next!

Thanks for the kind words, George. Someday, if the stars align and I happen to come across another one and be in a better position to keep it, I'd like to give the D24 another shot. For now though, it just doesn't fit into my life. I'll definitely check in from time to time to see how the community has grown.

The car went to a younger gentleman from Turbobricks. No experience with diesels, so I'll be sure to send him here!
