1st muffler/resonator? Rear muffler delete. Video included.

Is the first muffler on a 245 D24 actually a muffler or is it just a resnoator? I had to cut off the rear muffler because of rust and now its pretty loud. I just ran the exhaust out the pass side under the spare tire butt cheek and through on a 4" chrome tip I had laying around for years. Could it be the tip? I have included a before and after video for reference.

Everybody knows what stock sounds like but here it is any way.
