Question Volkswagen 2066 = Volvo 5194?

Hey, I want to check/adjust the timing on my D24 and I'm searching for the 5194 adapter it shows in the green book but I wasn't able to find it. After some digging I found out that Volkswagen 2066 might actually be the same thing as the Volvo 5194. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Here's the listing for the part I found https://www.ebay.com/itm/30468450892...Bk9SR-aP3_GzYQ

Possibly same deal with the locking pin which I've heard isn't really necessary. Volkswagen 2064 = Volvo 5193? Please let me know if I'm just being an idiot or this is just a know fact lol. https://www.ebay.com/itm/37415715257...Bk9SR-ai3vKzYQ

I believe you are correct with both I bought my dial adapter from a VW specialist and they listed it as VW2066 and I can say it works perfectly. On the same website I checked the locking pin and that is also correct, however I do not own one. I bought a different one and adapted it. Hope this helps

Alright I'll go ahead and buy both then. Many sites I found stated that the locking pin was for the D24 so I'm willing to trust it. If you don't mind me asking what dial indicator did you use?

It was only a cheapy from eBay. It works just fine I think most of them are fairly generic. I hope the link works because I think they have run out of stock although I'm in the UK anyway so it'll be just to give you an Idea.

We don't use locking pin, there's a better way. Sorry don't have time to find it for you but you can search around here on the forum and find the procedure. The camshaft sprocket tool is more important.

"Volkswagen 2066 Dial Gauge Adapter with
small 8mm threads. Includes a 95mm
Extension Pin.
"

Hmm, 95mm extension pin/sleeve doesn't seem long enough to extend past the vacuum pump. It will work, just not so convenient as you would have to remove the vacuum pump every time you want to retime or check IP timing.

Appreciate the reference I'll try to find something similar because I was considering buying this brand new original one for way more than that haha. Guess I don't really need it in that case. https://www.ebay.com/itm/32527802969...6301%7Ciid%3A1
