'81 or '82 260 diesel wagon

and again,
a fellow near me has this for sale as a parts car only, sounds like it is thoroughly trashed including the engine. It is a manual trans tho' so I'm wondering about compatibility of this clutch/trans + linkages with the '83 740 in my previous post...in other words, can I transplant the clutch/trans from an '81/'82 260 into an '83 740 without too many headaches?
Maybe if I find enough parts cars I can build one driver??? lol
