Default Intercooling a D24T... a couple of questions

Hi folks,

I'm currently trying to intercool my D24T using the standard (euro) D24TIC intercooler and pipework. I've got the intercooler mounted OK in front of the radiator, that's no problem.

Just a quick question:

My stock manifold has this on the front:

The D24TIC one (and the D24 ones I've seen people use when intercooling D24s using non-factory parts) don't seem to have it - what is it, and is it needed? If not, how do I remove it?

Will post pics of the setup if anyone's interested

That's an overboost dump valve, it will illuminate the "turbo" light on the dash and dump excess boost into the intake after 13lbs or so I believe.

Thanks for the help I've never seen the word 'turbo' on the dash lamps - I'm guessing it should come on with ignition and go off with the engine started like most other lamps (and a later 940 TD I owned).

I'd imagine I could test the lamp by bridging the contacts?

It's a blow off valve to prevent overboosting. Are you staying at stock boost? If so, bridge contact to test. If not, just unplug it as it will always come on as you make higher boost. Better yes get rid of the whole thing and replace with a rubber plug from the hardware store.
