please help
I have re submitted this hoping for a reply
I have a vw lt van 1983, at present it is running a 2.4 dl petrol engine which is very gutless and uses a load of fuel.So i have purchased a Vw ACL 2.4 turbo D,the same engine as the D24t.Buying the ACL meant that i would have all the engine mountings, plumbing for the inter cooler, wiring harness and all the other stuff i would need to transplant the engine into my LT truck. All ok so far the only problem is that while i was looking at possible engine options i came across the D24t and noticed that it produced a lot more power than the ACL, strange same engine but a load more power and torque!. OK so what i'm asking is what is the difference between the two engines, is it just settings or are there major changes to the D24t. The ACL that i have has got oil in the water, i'm hoping its just the oil cooler but it could be the head so i don't want to buy a new head for the ACL if the D25t head is better flowed or has a different cam or other changes. I hope this all makes sense and i look forward to your posts. Axe |

The difference between the two engines I believe would be the fuel setting and boost pressure. Mechanically the engines should be identical. With a good inter cooler, I would raise the boost pressure up and install an EGT gauge and keep an eye on it to help avoid a melt down. I hope this helps.
