Thanks for posting the pictures, very cool -- looks like somebody put quite a bit of effort and money into that setup! Billet power steering pump pulley and everything... Wonder if anything was done to the motor on the inside. Do you know whether it has head studs or not?
Must be nice to have all that room under the hood -- intercooler piping fits on that NA manifold a lot easier than it does in a Volvo. Rad looks surprisingly small, does the temp stay cool on hills? If it makes an exhaust haze even before WOT then it probably will be pretty smoky with the hammer down -- turning down the fueling a bit might not be a bad idea. All the smoke will make tailgaters back off for sure but your EGT and cyl head temps might be hard to keep under control as a result. 7psi with no load, wow, that would be nice... stock setup takes its time to get above 5psi below 2000 rpm even under full load. Must be a lot more snappy this way. What's the boost max out at under load, and does it spike at all or is it pretty stable? Any idea if that is the original actuator for that turbo or if it came from something else? Most VNT's seem to have the actuator controlled by vacuum, not pressure, so I wonder what they did to make this work. We will be interested to hear more details as you get to know it better, keep us posted here on how it works. Maybe this will be inspiration for some of the others of us on here who have been playing with the VNT idea to finally do it as well... |

That side by side cooling system sure does simplify some plumbing.

That's pretty cool. Looks like the GT22V is from a sprinter? The compressor maps out really well for the D24T. I would be curious to see what your drive pressures are. It also might be better suited to control the veins via drive pressure.

The guy that did the work said it was studed, ballanced Rotating
Assembly some Ceramic pistions or something but i have little paper work to back it up. The Radiator is a 3 core race unit for a honada civic. I have it 1/3 blocked for winter but he said it doesnt run hot. I put some 4.10 gears in this weekend now i can drive the Country roads 2200rpm 8-13 psi boost 450-650 egt on an Average cruse I am finding this motor likes a littel rpm Can i run 3000 Continuous and be ok I think peak boost is just under 20 psi. It comes on quick I am Rarely under 5 psi driving. 1100 rpm in 1st gear i Will have 5-7 psi with very light Throttle |
