It will fit, if you take motor and and gearbox fasteners from diesel.
Also you need gearbox from diesel, it have different
adapter plate to motor than in gasser.
Signal to revmeter will be taken from "W" navel from alternator,
and then you just have to wire electrics and control to shutter-solenoid
in diesel pump, if you dont take them already with swap motor.

It is also necessary to swap the front suspension cross member so that the D24T engine mounts will fit.

The easiest 740 to convert to diesel are those which have the turbo gas engine. The battery, air cleaner, windshield washer bottle are already in the right place. Dont get me wrong, you can convert any of them. Its just that the turbo cars are easier and quicker.

I converted my '92 model about a year ago. Much more pleasant to drive than the 85 as its in better condition and only 205k miles (33,210 Swedish Miles).

Well it had 197k with the gas engine in it. I have no idea how many miles the engine and trannie have though I suspect they were both rebuilt.
After reading about the guy with a P1800 with 2.6 million miles on it, they are both mere hatchlings.
