However I am not in a position to do this work myself and would like to know before I take car to garage how many hours the job is likely to take |

You will be hard pressed to find a Volvo shop that would take on that job. You might be better off to find an independant mechanic or even better someone who owns D24 engines and already has the special tools involved as they are rare.
Where are you located? Steve |

Well if you are in the neighborhood of Stonehenge that puts a different light on the mechanics that may be familiar with this engine :-)
I think it would take me at least 6 hours to do all of that. Make sure they replace the water pump too as it will have to be disturbed to properly tension the new camshaft timing belt. You may want to get glow plugs 5 and 6 replaced at the same time as it would be a piece of cake if the pump is removed although I'm not sure if you are having the pump replaced or just timed. Steve |

Hi Steve
I fly model aircraft just next to Airmans Cross on Manor Farm. The people who are doing the job Are Lillywhites in Ludgershall they seem to be a very trustworthy bunch howevr the info from dt24 enthusiasts is invaluable. Brian |
