I just replaced the turbo on my engine last month. The old one still produces normal boost pressures and there is no play in the shaft. Seems to be alright but can't guarantee it's perfect.

What did you replace your with? I do need to boost more than stock setting, but my old turbo never got over 14 lbs. I had mine rebuilt recently, but it appears that the WG is frozen open. If you don't mind me asking, why did you replace your old turbo?

I found a direct replacement turbo from Garrett Industries, factory rebuilt, online. My mechanic said it was allowing oil to enter the exhaust but I never saw any evidence of that. The newly rebuilt one has less whine than the old one if that means anything.
