Default d24 vacuum pump

hi all
has anyone here used a different type of vacuum system to make the vacuum work i.e. a belt driven or electric vacuum i thought i had read something somewhere . my vacuum pump is so noisy now when engine ticking over and at low speed.i disconnect vacuum hose and engine just purrs really good for a 240000 mile engine .
all advice most grateful

Otherwise, somebody was talking about using the electric vacuum booster pump from a 940 or 960 on this forum no too long ago; you'll find it if you look around for it.

I have taken a liking to Electric vac pumps found on 2001 or newer Volvo P2 platforms. they are triggered by a vac pressure switch, which allows the pump to run when needed. MUCH better than stupid mechanical cam driven pump which is always in the way.

Thanks for the info Slobodan. What did you use as a blockoff plate and how did you seal it?
