Question O/D solenoid question

Hi,

I'm new to this forum, diesels and Volvos.
Had my car (83' 244 D24 w/manual) for about a week now.
I've been reading up on everything I can about the car.

My question is in regards to the electronic overdrive:
If I turn the ignition on, place the gear selector in 4th and then engage the overdrive switch, I don't hear the relay click. The strange thing is that the O/D works with no problem after about 10 minutes of driving. After the car is up to normal operating temperature, I can turn the engine off, ignition on, gear selector in 4th and the relay works as it should (clicking on/off).

I haven't tried reflowing the solder on the relay - this will be my first attempt at fixing it.
It still seems strange to me that the system would work flawlessly after warming up.
Thanks for any advice you could give to fix this issue.

Thanks for that info, I ran across that a few days ago and couldn't find it again. I work with a lot of solder pros. If it's one of the joints listed, they'll be able to reflow them.
