Default [740 D24] Custom radiator?

Hi all.
I've bought '90 740, with N/A D24 engine. Good condition but radiator is broken in unrepairable manner. So, I'm looking for a replacement but new one for D24 is hard to find in my country and damn expensive (they cost more that a whole 940 in average condition).

So my questions are:

- can I use D24T's radiator? It seems to be a bit higher, original D24 dimensions are 595x415 milimeters, but D24T are 595x509 mm. Are they easy replaceable? Seems they are but I'd like to be sure... It's quite possible to find used one in my area.

- can I use radiator from any other Volvo models? I mean 960 3.0 or others, they are MUCH cheaper than dedicated for diesels

- or maybe anyone fitted with success any radiator from other car? BMW/Mercedes or something else?

Thank you in advance for your interest

The d24t radiator should drop in, as the turbo engine came in the 7 series cars. As for a gasser radiator, it may not have the cooling capacity you need. I would stick with the D24t radiator if they are available around you.

I remember that somebody used a V6 radiator form a 760 V6 to replace a D24 radiator with good results.

I think V6 radiators are the same size but have the hose connections reversed so that won't work well for you.

A D24T radiator should be easy to find used and would be your best option. It will drop right in. May extend a little lower than the one designed for a D24 but that is fine -- more cooling capacity can only be a good thing.

A 960 radiator will also drop right in, but the lower rad hose connection is different (points straight out rather than angled towards the driver's side like a D24T would have) so you would have to do some adaptation.

I wouldn't use a gasser radiator -- not big enough.

You can use any 92+ 740/940 radiator or a 93 960 radiator.

I have a 960 radiator in my 760 and have no problem with overheating

Sounds quite promising. Can you tell me about climate you live in? Do you got up to 95 F (35 C ) degrees during summer day?

All of you -- great bunch of thanks, guys. You are really helpful
