Please Adjust it with a Clock
D24T is VERY sensitive about wrong Pump Timing. ! Good Tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTXAm4P6nXU But time it on the Camshaft sprocket (Loose screw only 1 Revolution !) Its easier !. But note, on a Standard Clock (Every clock offered in ebay), the Pin , which is installed in the guide in the Pump (Where the clock is mounted on) is to Long - You cant mount the clock correctly)!. I had just shortened it about 10mm. Setting (For Europe) 0,90mm Greetings |

We have tried to set it properly and still no change, I still think there is problem with the injection pump, but don't know how to test it...

You could remove , clean, and inspect the delivery valves without too much trouble or any special equipment. the copper washers behind them should be annealed or replaced.
A mechanic stethoscope on each injector might give you a pointer on where something is different. Have you personally verified valve adjustment? |

So small update, everything were checked again (compression, injectors and IP on bench, timing, another hydrodynamic converter...) and it is still shanking on idle between 600-1100rpm

I'm having this same problem on a 96 tdic, the engine rocks on idle but runs smooth as silk on anything above 900rpm I need to time the pump because when the cold start device is engaged (when cold!) Lots of white/black smoke. When its warm it has tell tale signs of slightly too advanced pump timing I'd say your problem is definitely the timing but I'll report back when I do mine! |

Turns out my timing was too retarded, but the shake remains and I now have blow-by so I'd say I have at least one Broken piston ring, need to find a dummy injector to test compression. But the engine seems to have very little smoke and great power so maybe a set of rings and a gasket should see it back but we'll see Hope you get to the root of your problem |
