Default Heater (Interior) Core Matrix replacement (w/o AC !!!!!)

Hi everyone.

I do my Headgasket yesterday, Car is still not heating.
(see other Thread from me)

Feed Pipe to heater Valve is Hot, (Heater valve is new), Behind the HEater Valve: hose is Hot to, but the Hose, which comes out from the heater matrix (Return pipe) - Cold.
Ais should be bleeded out...
I think the Heater Matrix is sealed by "Coolant Sealing" which may be applied by the Pre-Owner...

BUT ! ::
When i blow Water in the Inlet, Water cames out (slowly) on the Return pipe...

Control Cables are all OK, and do their work (I checked it)

Now my Question.-Wanna Change the Heater Matrix
I know , if a AC is Present, the Interior must be completely disassembled, to gain Access to the heater core.

I Have the Standard Heater, without Everything...

Is it possible, to remove Accelerator Pedal, Brake Pedal, and remove the 2 Hoses, and slide the Heater Core out ?

Every thread i found about heater core Change... everyone has a AC

Greetings

This one i Have :

And here i marked it Red, the Cover i want to remove, remove the Pedals, and Try to slide the Heater out...

Heater core job needs Time! and a handful of pills.
It may help you,I found a good write-up about it. They pictured setups with and without AC. http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/faq/Heat...eplacement.htm

Hi

Sorry, but all of this cars, have AC.
They all donīt match the Standard Heating controls.

This Heater Core, on AC cars REQUIRE to dissasemble the complete heater unit.

The Standard Heater, as i have it, CANT be disassembled this way, i had the Red marked Cover on the Side of the heater core - i Had postet in the Construction Picture in my 1st. Post. .

(AC Cars, Donīt have them, just look at the construction pictures, Added one on the bottom of this Post....), they must disassemble the complete heater to gain Access to the Heater core.

A Post above i gave a Picture of MY Heating System.

And this is, what you all have ...
Construction Picture of AC Heating System:

If it is not leaking I would not change it. How much water is flowing out? Can you flush it by hooking up a garden hose to the return, to reverse-flush? And then reverse that? Not too much pressure, you don't want to burst the matrix!

Did this car suffer oil in the coolant? That can form a sludge that blocks the coolant passages but usually can be flushed out.

Hi

No i have no Option here, to Flush it with a Garden Hose

I only can remove the 2 Hoses from the engine Bay, Put on the Inlet a Hose, and Blow in by myself *lol*.

I think its Blocking inside, Water cames out from the Outlet, but not as Fast as i blow in the Inlet.
Also thing with the Blocking Problem, the Water cant Circulate in the Heater normaly...

We have no "Pressure" Water pump, only a Circulation Water Pump.
I also installed a Secondary Water Pump, (Bosch), but this thing only does 0,2 Bar. (Its a Circulation Pump too...)

I HAd installed a Park Heater (webasto Thermo Top T), Runs Perfectly, Engine Hot- Inside the car Cold.

It must be the HEater matrix.

I Changed the Front Water Cooler (Radiator) too. so i dont want tu use any "Coolant Cleaner".

But the LAST Thing i can Try is, to Remove the 2 Hoses (Engine Bay) Connect the 2 Pipes together (So i can Drive ...).
Feed the Heater Matrix Manually with a Coolant Cleaner, Close the 2 Connections, Wait 3-4 Days, and then try to Blow it out...

I test it...

Greetings

You're 100% sure you have all the air out of the system? If the core flows even just a little bit, I suspect it should provide heat?

Changing the core is a big job (ask ngoma) and unfortunately I don't think those of us in the US will have access to any information about how the non-AC dash and heater box are assembled, since all 700 series in the US came with AC. I don't think my greenbooks even show the non-AC system though I can confirm later on.

Maybe worth asking folks on one of the larger gasser Volvo forums? Turbobricks has a few members from Europe that participate and maybe they would have better info about your setup. Or see if the Euro versions of the Haynes manuals show something?

I would make sure that you have A: bled the air out of the system properly, B: made sure that the heater control valve is functioning correctly. Running a hose through the system is the best way. If you don't have access to a hose, find access. Otherwise you may be wasting a lot of time (and money) unnecessarily chasing a problem... Good luck.

Yes, if you have no running water at the location, you can use a Drill Pump, short hose, and a bucket of water (hot or at least warm is best).

Hi

Replaced Heater Core today. 2-3 Hours .
(Only Accelerator must be removed.- Left Hand Drive.) as I describe it in the 1 Post.

Right hand Driven Cars i think its the Clutch Pedal which must be removed.

The only Tricky Thing is to get the Damn Fuc***g Hoses from the Heater Matrix.

Filled up with water- Is heating like a Beast now !!!!

Greetings

The Problem with "flushing" this Shitty Thing is, its NOT A DEVICE Like This.

IN - HEATER - OUT
Not like a "snake".
That means, When water gets in, and on the other Port out, you have NO GUARANTEE, that the COMPLETE Matrix is filled with water.

The Problem of this heater core is, that not all of the rows are filled with water.
(Blocked by a Coolant Leak stop....)

I saw a Picture here , i Think it was from Michaelovitch... (Who Cuts it in a half, where you see it...)

Tomorrow i Connect the new Electrical Vacuum Pump. I Had it installed today, Tomorrow i will Complete it, and show some Pictures here.
I Want to get Rid of this Malfunctioning Vacuum pump ( I remove the Push-Rod and install the pump- till i make a Steel Plate for it)
This noisy dummy thing ...
