where to buy intake & exhaust gaskets?
d24t. where is the best place to purchase intake & exhaust gaskets? are there some that are better than others? i would like to get the best quality that is available if that option isn't sky high priced.

I bought my intake and exhaust gaskets from Napa. Intake was $2.49 and exhaust were $.89 each ( that's with my discount, I'm not sure what "walk in" price is). You can also try CPD or rock auto.

100+ mile round trip to the dealership. plus, i try to look for the best quality i can get & quite often that means going aftermarket. i know, i know, maybe not so much with simple items like gaskets, but sometimes that *is* the case...i.e. rubberized vs. cork or paper. (yes, i am aware exhaust & intake gaskets are not cork or paper or rubberized LOL)
:-D

Volvo would be a good source, or they are readily available aftermarket. Any IMC or Worldpac reseller should be able to supply them. I.E. gowestyautoparts.com, rockauto, partsgeek, etc.
The exhaust gaskets are exactly the same as what is used on every 4-cylinder VW diesel from 1976 through 2006 so those are everywhere, but they are a little tricky since most of those out there are stainless on one side and fiber on the other side. You need the type that is stainless on both sides, which is less common. The only way to get those I know of is through Volvo, or by finding the "Sabo" branded gaskets. Gowestyautoparts.com (which resells IMC) carries the Sabo gaskets for less than a dollar apiece. Those are what I use...
