No way in the world will it "start to catch" with all the injector hardlines disconnected-- there's no fuel getting to the injectors!
Normally, disconnecting one hardline at the injector (#1 often seems to be easiest) is sufficient to verify the system is primed. If you're getting the fuel spurts out of the one, they all should be similar, given that it's a rotary IP. Please reread the
Hard Starting stickey again, specifically the last paragraph of the
Air in Fuel Section.
