I too was surprised that the '84 donor I found has the M47, but it is the true 5spd, not the 4spd with OD.
OK, good to know about needing all those parts. Perhaps better to find a M/T 7 series donor at a salvage yard and get all those parts? Do you know if the M47 from a gas 7 series will bolt to my diesel? If I find said car (7 series M/T donor) is the driveshaft length the same between the sedan and the wagon?
I do have a lift and tools.
What donor vehicles can I pull an auto out of to bolt up to my 740?
I have given it about 15 seconds to engage. Before being towed, the trans engaged into gear almost immediately. It was towed somewhere around 900 miles at highway speeds.
I am fairly sure it's toast.
