That is too bad, looks like a hard hit, though it does seem those sprockets are actually quite fragile (I have fumbled a few) so maybe it was not as severe as it looks.
If you can find a new cam from Febi that should work well, their cams (and all of their parts) tend to be good quality.
What damage was visible on the old cam? If it got a major impact on the end you may want to inspect the rear camshaft bearing cap and saddle on the head itself also, since those provide the thrust surfaces for the camshaft and would normally never see this type of force.
