Sounds cool, Alex and i had the only two volvo diesels I think people had ever seen at the big Scheid diesel weekend. My car wasn't the fastest thing in the street class but I beat 3 of the 4 trucks I raced...

The T5 swap is the only way to go if you actually want to get some power to the ground. By the time you step up to a clutch to hold any amount of power the M46 just breaks, (mine lasted 3 days) or the OD unit will crap out at least. Make sure you get a world class T-5, and I would recomend getting the slightly more expensive T-5 adapter plate that is a available that lets you use the stock volvo throwout bearing. I had to do some creative crap to get the mustang bearing to work along with extra clearencing of the bellhousing, all to save around 50 bucks... I don't remember who was selling that particular adapter kit, but if you search over on turbobricks I'm sure you'll be able to find it quickly, the T-5 swap topic comes up pretty often. I would also start looking for another gear set, the 3.55s your car has with the M46 is too tall for the T5, first gear especially. You cant get off the line worth a damn becuase it just bogs down with such a tall gear. It was also annoying daily driving since you have to slip the clutch a bit extra just to take of normally. It was almost like trying to take off in 2nd gear with the M46. If you end up with any questions on the swap feel free to pm me...
