I too had an interesting experience when I was there. For someone who was selling a car, especially for the amount of time you mentioned, you'd think everything would be together, ready to go.

Not only was the seller not home at the time we specified to meet at, when he did finally arrive, I wasted another hour waiting for him to find and gather up additional parts he had, not to mention extra keys.

I never even bothered looking closely at the engine simply because I had no way of moving it. Had I known about it ahead of time, I could have been prepared, but it sounds like it would have been wasted effort anyway.
