Found a Nice looking '83 D24T engine

Got it from the JunkYard.
Pictures later tonight.
I am excited about it. It so clean. As in it appears to have been rebuilt in the past... but for whatever reason the car sat for an insane about of time. Its all wet out now, I really wanted to tinker with it and see if I couldn't fire the engine up. but, ofcourse it will probably take a couple weeks. I have other projects I need to complete first.

the plan with this motor is to get it running. If it runs fine, then I will be attaching the ZF 22 to it, and then dump it into my '71 164.

Got to tinker with the Motor.
For some damn reason it was missing the camshaft bolt that holds the cam gear in place.. Not a problem since they are a tapered fit and don't break their position very easily. Grabbed a bolt and washer I am satisfied. poured some oil in it. Cranked it over a couple times and yes, it does have compression. Of course the more I crank it the more compression builds up. Then I popped off the blow off valve and squirt ATF down all six ports. turn it over more. I cranked it backwards as not to hydro-lock the motor. then forwards oh man.. feels great. I'll crank it more tomorrow. Maybe some day soon I get a battery and some fresh fuel for it to burn. I would like to make a video of it running on the ground in my drive way.

Pulled the battery from my Daily Driver to start the '83 D24T in my drive way.
Almost got the pump primed up with fresh Diesel. And then my battery went flat. Then I decided to check the water level in my battery. ... DRY! filled it up and went back to cranking on it. And she fired up! Got a nice runner from the JY for 100$ !! I am pleased. Now I need to find a shell to insert it into.

A motor can still hydrolock when turning over backwards..... :p

Sounds like a nice find.
