'Bad web reputation'

I cant access this site from my works computer, Its blocked it on the grounds of a 'Bad web reputation'

Whats a bad reputation, and how did this site get it?

First I've heard of this. Which program is blocking the site?

monkeh 06-08-2016 01:16 PM

My works own filter, Eastman. I can contest the blockage, but I have to have a legitimate reason... Internet in work is considered a privilege not a right...

I'll get some technical details and report back.

Attempted access to the web page: http://www.d24t.com/

This website has been blocked due to having a “Bad Web Reputation”. The web filters we use can block any website based on the “Web Reputation“ of the site.

These are the most common reasons a site is blocked:

The website or IP address has exhibited activities that indicates it has been involved in the distribution of malware.
The IP address associated with this Website has been linked to highly suspect behavior. By going to this site users are at high risk for getting infected with malware.
The host has exhibited activity that indicates it has been involved in Phishing attacks.
The host is infected by malware or otherwise compromised by spammers or another malicious group.
Once the host website fixes these issues, their reputation score should improve in a short amount of time and access to the site will be allowed.

Wow, that list covers about everything. Can you get the specific reason for rejection?

Yikes.

The site did get hacked and temporarily disabled several years ago but has been stable and trouble-free since then other than the occasional spam bot registration that we usually identify and get rid of quickly. Even that is a relatively rare issue.

I am not aware of any others having issues accessing the site due to this but would like to know what the source of the problem is, do you know anything about what the service is that generates this "reputation score"? We could try to lodge a request with them to reevaluate, I would be surprised if they really consider this site to be a threat, unless they view all web forums that way.

I also work for an outfit that has relatively strict controls on access to sites and have had no trouble myself...
