Nice car! I wish we had gotten more D24T wagons over here. I'd love to see engine bay photos if you get a chance!

I can do that for ya!

Man a D24T from the 90s... As usual I'm very jelous of you guys over in Europe with your newer diesels. Must be nice to be able to buy something so fresh! The newest we can get is 85 (or well a few squeaked out in '86 but not many)

Looks great, I too would like to check out the engine and maybe an interior pic. Any plans for it modification wise?

Hi Jason, I had the grey 760 wagon on here last year.

I'll take some more piccys tomorrow, The only mod I would like to do is put a Stainless steel exhaust on it bigger than the standard one.

Have you got any of those D24 stickers left you had made???

BTW Your jealous of our later D24's I have to say that if I was back in the states ( I lived out there for 10 years) I would be driving (dare I say it on here) an 80's Olds Delta 88 with a 350 Diesel in I've had 3 5.7 diesel and not had a prob with any. So for that reason I'm Jealous of you.

Ha! The 5.7 diesel? Those have had a bad reputation for a long time, plus not mutch potential with them for power. I guess if you don't want to turn it up any, its a pretty comfy cruiser. Then again, so is a 7 series volvo. I don't think I have any more decals, another member was asking for some. I'm going to need to get more made. PM me with your info and what color you would like.

I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the 5.7s bad reputation is from people not taking care of them, just like with the D24... Although I (my dad actually) had really bad luck with the two 6.2 diesels we had. The first one suddenly blew a head gasket and hydrolocked without overheating first (or any other warning or explanation), and the second suddenly threw a rod at light throttle with no warning. We also could never get V belts to last more than a month or so on either, because they had a weird design where two belts went on the same pulley with different size grooves, so they constantly fought each other and slipped.

They were really nice before they died though- great fuel economy and torque.

Here in England its very much the same with the D24 as it is with the 5.7 diesel's over there. You either love em or hate em, there is no in-between

When I bought my first Volvo Diesel it was pretty much the same reading as when I got my first Olds Diesel. Let it warm up a little, no full throttle work till fully warmed up and keep plenty of water and fresh oil in it.

I've had a 6.2 diesel over here in a 1982 Caprice wagon and I've also had over here two Ford Econoline vans, one 6.9 and one 6.9 turbo Non of which Ive had any real trouble with.

The International 6.9/7.3 is legendary. My dad's 6.9 has totally worn out two F350 bodies, but appears to run like new. I think one of those engines would easily outlast dozens of the Ford bodies they're sold in, even without the best maintenance.

And they sound great when running.
