Not mine, both of the cars. I dont have any clue at who owns that volvo, jsut found that video when searching information about that mercedes, and noticed that diesel volvo too on video.

Jason 10-22-2009 10:28 AM

Thats what I'm talking about!!! HX40 turbo??? How the hell do you get that to spool? Thats huge!

That will be my car when I get the headstuds on and the 5 speed watch out!

Jason

It is not mine. Yes i think it is a hx40. I have read somwhere that it is not a problem to spool it up because the engine likes more efficiency turbo(Big) But he smokes alot so i think he "help" the spooling that way.

Jason 10-22-2009 11:01 AM

Mine is borderline for spooling, it really lights after 3000rpm. A hx40 is quite a bit bigger.

Next project will be a supercharger?

lalozf 10-22-2009 12:30 PM

sounds nice, anyone knows this engine with a supecharger?
I have a friend that has a Eaton mp62, and he wants to install it in a volvo

volvo d6 10-22-2009 01:04 PM

It should work great on this engine who has a large turbo lag;)

IceV_760 10-23-2009 01:25 AM

With supercharger you can say bye bye to "connecting rods" they
are going to get some nice curve.. And thats fact.
Tell your friend first to get new "connecting rods", example from eagle,
h-profile of course.

volvo d6 10-23-2009 01:40 AM

Do you get h profil rods to d24?

IceV_760 10-23-2009 03:06 AM

No, i dont need them. And most of us dont need them never if we use turbo
which starts to spool on high rpm's like our to3, since low torque will break them.
But they only cost something under 1000euros... Or if you buy chinese ones you
can get them for 100euros/each, so 140$/each roughly, which makes whole set to cost about ~840$

volvo d6 10-23-2009 03:41 AM

Sorry for my english but i ment where can i buy them? They have to fit right in. Maybe i gonna fit a supercharger one time who works before the turbo spool up.

IceV_760 10-23-2009 05:34 AM

Im not sure do any workshop ready have d24 cranks, but they will engineer you ones when you give them right sizes.

Jason 10-23-2009 05:34 AM

If you guys know of other cool volvo diesel videos, post up the links! I have searched youtube alot but I only know english so who knows what I'm missing. That video with the vovlo and the benz was awesome! I would like to see more stuff like that!

Jason

IceV_760 10-23-2009 08:38 AM

Youre too optimistic, that Volvo scored for 17,6,
so long trip to 15's.

I`m from norway but i look at swedish forums:D I found the video there. I like the sick respons on the 740 and he says that it wasn`t so much power in the car now because he had overheated the engine and the head was full of cracks:rolleyes:

Hello D6, i only logged in to tell you that sten parner has rods, google sten parner and you will find his website, there is other firms that have rods to d24, because many other vw engines have the same spec on the rods. But i think sten has a very good price, never heard of broken rods from his shop, and he has sold many thousands of them worldwide, but you will have to check the big end and the little end, they often are too tight.

Martin friman// that cant spell properly :D

IceV_760 11-10-2009 01:49 AM

Not Volvo at all..
But thats something i MUST link there:

Read about that thing in diesel power. Its a cummins 4bt... It seems to spool up about as well as my turbo!

I need a manual.

the red 740 d24 tic is mine and the mercedes w116.
740 has about 250hk and 500nm the pump delivers 190ccm and boost is about 2,9bar. but now the engine has done the last burnout the head gasket is blown several cracks in the head and one piston has cracked

axL_ 11-19-2009 02:47 PM

btw my english aint so good

Jason 11-19-2009 04:13 PM

250hk? Know around what that equals in h.p.?

Sounds and looks good!

Wow!!! 250 hp and ~ 369 ft/ lbs., that sounds fantastic! axL, please share how you were able to generate this amount of power!

Welcome to the forum!

IceV_760 11-20-2009 10:34 AM

I want to know what gearbox you use to handle that power,
more than how you get those powers.
M90? I dont believe you are using M4x-serie, or ZF-automatic.
Maybe AW-7x?

I think he uses the original m46 trans. They are good it is just the many people change gears to fast:o And volvo transmissions grows on tree here:D
And to get the power just use bigger stuff in the pumps from a old cummins or something and a BIG TURBO AND COOLER:cool:

IceV_760 11-20-2009 11:47 AM

He most likely have 12mm liquid head.
And some monster turbo.
Interesting if that m46 outstands that power, but yes, they grow in trees,
but i would get bored to change one once in a month.

But: Nice numbers axL_ !

The trans is good enough! I can destroy a getrag or a zf fast as hell to. All you have to do is to shift fast and hard as you can.

sorry I ment 250HP. hk is swedish

the pump is rebuild with an pumphead(don't really know if it's called that)
from td40 volvo truck engine and the turbo is an hx40, but it's almost too large im having trouble with spoolup

black raced against an a6 2.5TDI chipped, and won easy:D

Thanks.
It's not just to mount an big turbo, you must have the right turbo and exactly the right size to the diesel the pump is delivering.
I drive with an M47 after having realize that
m46 sucks big time, took me about 10min and the overdrive was blown in bits internally, but m47 often gives up on third gear. can say that it's a lot more done to the engine then just a big turbo and more diesel

IceV_760 11-21-2009 03:32 AM

Of course it is,
that was just exacerbate..
