Should I keep my car or sell it??

Hi Friends
I have a 1984 760GLE Turbo Diesel with a bad transmission.
I'm trying to decide whether I should sell it or just fix the trans and drive it.
Any thoughts?

I vote to fix it. Automatic or manual? M46 are cheap and easy to come by... The HP22 are a little harder to find. But either way I would fix it!

I have a ZF from a 740Diesel sitting in my garage right now. It was removed by another forum member in good order and I bought it from him though I never installed it. I bought it to replace a dodgy one a few years back but ended up swapping in an M46. It would not be cheap to ship it to Calif but possible nevertheless.

I also rebuilt the ZF in my other car and that was not terrible. It just took some research (green book) and some making of special tools etc.

Just for the record, it's an automatic.
Apparently the owner's manual was wrong when it said that you can tow in front up with the car in neutral.
It will drive short distances, like 30 minutes, before the trans starts to have issues with shifting.

HI
So here's the update.
The transmission was in fact pretty well trashed.
I found a place in Los Angeles that did a complete rebuild, including torque converter, with a 2 year 24,000 warranty for $1500.
I drove it home and have a great running car
